I created “Valley of the Nith” in 2016 as a game design exercise at the University of Waterloo Game Jam. I figured there had to be more game design potential with “Tetrominoes” as they work so well in Tetris and Blokus. I came up with the triangle pattern design and made a few prototypes. I play tested the scoring with a friend and we found it to be fun and engaging. The game is based around a competitive map creation mechanic where you try to create the largest area of your colour, black or white, while blocking the progress of your opponent.
